Car wont shut off i turn key and it keeps running

Hello, Your ignition switch is not recognizing that you have turned it off (most likely). Disconnecting the battery only stops the battery from charging, and as long as the alternator is running, the engine will still run because it is getting charge and thinks it is on. The way I would go about it is to leave the battery connected, remove the fuel pump fuse, then disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable. When reconnected, the vehicle may or may not think it is on, so be careful you don't run the battery down by plugging it in a walking away. Next, think security. Keyless locks don't work with the engine on, so you will need to lock all doors from the inside, then lock the driver door with the hard key.
