Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Oops, putting DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) in a gas tank is like trying to make a smoothie with motor oil—it's not going to end well. DEF is mostly water and urea, and it doesn't play nice with gasoline engines. First, you'll need to drain the gas tank completely to get rid of the DEF. This usually involves dropping the tank and flushing it out, which is a bit of a chore but necessary. Once the tank is clean, replace the fuel filter and refill with fresh gasoline. You might also want to check the fuel lines and injectors for any residual DEF. It's like cleaning up after a party; you want to make sure everything's back in order before you start up again. I'd also put the highest octane gas in the tank after all of this is done since it has the most detergents in it. Good luck!
