hi , i disconnected the battery and touched the wires together but the light did not reset. does any one have any other suggestions that will help with this problem. thanks

The P0440 code stored signifies a problem seen by the computer in your car with the evaporative emission control system. Disconnecting the battery should erase this code, it takes several trips for criteria to be mett before this code would reapear could your car have other codes stored that do not require several trips to set?
