What is your question?
Fuel pump is making a noise like it's about to go out. Was told it could be throttle sensor? It's not starved for fuel. It starts up just fine but just will not get going unless I shift into a lower gear. Automatic trans mind you. Please advise. Would have had it ran for codes but the wiring harness is trashed due to someone pulling radio out of console and not knowing what they were doing.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It's worse in drive better in 1st but not perfect
How long has your 2001 Chevrolet Venture had this problem?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Your Venture sounds like it’s struggling to, well, venture anywhere. If the **fuel pump is making noise**, that’s a red flag—it could be weak and not delivering enough pressure under load. Just because it starts fine doesn’t mean it’s supplying enough fuel at higher demands. A **fuel pressure test** would confirm that. The **throttle position sensor (TPS)** could also be a suspect, but without a scan tool, it’s hard to say. Since shifting into lower gears helps, it might even be a **transmission issue**—like a slipping torque converter or clogged filter. Given the wiring harness situation, I’d start with the fuel pump and go from there.
