the oil change demand lit up yesterday could this be associated with the dry grating sound/

Hello, No, when you turn the wheel all the way to one side, you are hearing peak output from the power steering pump since it is producing pressure that is no longer being used. Also, there may be air in the power steering system, or a leak. If the reservoir is low, take it to the dealer and say 'warranty'!
