What would make car over heat and fun continues to run after turned off?

If so they're just doing their job to cool the engine down. If not, it could be a bad fan relay in conjunction with a failing coolant system component. Either way, I recommend towing your Traverse to a shop that can perform a diagnostic/pressure test on the cooling system to pinpoint the issue.
