Transmission noise

What is your question?

I get knocking or rattling noise from my transmission, even at idle. Usually, it's a knocking sound, but sometimes it's a constant rattle. I've also had some delayed engagement issues. That only happens when infrequently, but when it does it's when I slow down to a traffic circle and then speed up if no traffic is coming or when switching from reverse to 1st. I also get a whining noise that's not power steering. It's coincides with the transmission speed. I have a certified GM warranty, but the dealer doesn't want to touch it without replicating the problems. But the problems don't always occur, except the whining. I was able to get a little knocking noise to occur while at the dealership. I've got the sounds on video and showed it to them, but they are still not wanting to do the diagnostic work on it. The warranty expires in a couple months, so needless to say, I'm concerned about this.

How long has your 2013 Chevrolet Traverse had this problem?

Several months with the rattling and about a month with the whining and delayed engagement.

Hello, You really should contact GM corporate offices about this issue, or at least visit another dealership. I would say it is unreasonable or even dishonest to avoid diagnosing this vehicle, especially since the whine has been duplicated, and the video of the noise has been presented. At the very worst, the vehicle should be left with the dealership for a few days, and the service manager or one of the technicians could even commute using the vehicle so the issue can be replicated. The other thing you could do is go practice making the noise near the dealership. Once you find a place within a mile or so of the dealership that you KNOW the noise happens every time or nearly every time, take the technician to that place.
