P0128 Code

What is your question?

Just today my check engine light came on and I took it to O'Reilly's and had the code checked. It came up as a P0128 error code. The car is running fine. My husband is going to check the fluid levels when he gets home. Not sure what to do next after that. Will it hurt to drive it until we can get it fixed?

engine is not running hot enough from a bad thermostat. either that or the coolant sensor is not reading correctly. i would not wait to long to get it fixed. Roy

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. So do you think we should replace both the sensor and the thermostat? Do you know of a good place to get parts? My husband does almost all of our car maintenance is this something he can do? What could happen if we don't take care of it quickly? Thanks so much!!!!!

95% OF THE TIME YOU WILL NEED A THERMOSTAT. THE ENGINE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE RUNNING HOT, THE TEMP CAN BE TO LOW OR OPENING SLOW AND NOT ALLOWING ENGINE TO GO INTO CLOSED LOOP FAST ENOUGH. REPLACE YOUR T-STAT, CLEAR THE CODE AND I'M SURE YOU WILL BE OK
