I nor my mechanic can figure out why my key will not come out of my ignition on my 2004 chevrolet trail blazer

The ignition could have fallen apart internally. This would require you to remove and replace the ignition. Also make sure it's fully in park. Alex

Thanks for the response, I did have to slam it in park a couple times and that worked..BUT..now it wont and I have it in the shop and they cant figure it out...they think there may be a security system that wont for some reason release it...I even had them check all the fuses.. Everyone is confused and I need my vehicle back
