my 2002 trailblazer coolant temp gauge is going from 100 to 260 then goes up and down I hook up my scanner and the ecm is doing the same thing I replaced the coolant temp sensor but im still having the problem please help!!!!!!!

Ok, post back with the reference voltage to the sensor, and the signal voltage from the sensor at 260F and 100F (EDIT**on the gauge, not actual temp)
With the engine off, key on, recheck the voltages and post those as well.
If the signal voltage from the engine control module is too high, there may be an issue with the ECM.
Check resistance from the ECU to the sensor, and back. Let me know what you get, I'll dig in specs, and give you 2-3 more tests.
Also, with engine cold, check resistance across the sensor. I've seen more than one bad new sensor.
Yes it only get up to 210 it's not running hot it does it first thing in the morning when I first start it up
