What is your question?
I have a 1999 Chevy Tracker with a 2.0 engine. Not long ago the timing chain broke and I had the timing chain and the cam chains with all the guides replaced. When this was performed it was noticed that the timing chain guide was completely chewed up.1500 miles later the very same thing happened. The timing chain guide is completely gone and the timing chain broke again. My mechanic told me that one possible fix is NOT to install the timing chain guide since it seems to be causing the chain to break. Is that a viable fix and if it's not please point me in the right direction.

Ok no, that is not a viable fix. The guides are super important as that is what the chain rides on. If the mechanic that mentioned removing the guides is the one that did the previous repair, then he most likely didn't install the chain properly or didn't tighten something. Basically, he messed up is my guess. You should really get a second opinion. Use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
