oil in spark plug well

Oil in the spark plug well if these spark plugs are recessed down a well in the valve cover would indicate the valve cover gasket tube seal gasket is bad. Oil on the spark plug/in the combustion chamber would indicate an internal engine problem such as worn valve guide, worn piston rings.
