What is your question?
5.3 engine, automatic transmission, has dod, afm, acts as if it is stuck in 4cyl mode, runs rough, stalls when put in reverse, had low oil pressure, replaced o ring on pickup tube solved low oil pressure problem, was running well, then all of a sudden, started running rough, does not have collapsed lifters, making no tapping or clicking or knocking noises, looks like an electrical problem to me, i replaced the valley pan with solenoids, no change, checked injectors all good, when checking the coils i noticed that i could unplug 4 of them with no change in the way the engine was running. The 4 that are unplugged are the 4 that are turned off when in 4 cyl mode or deactivation mode. So i checked the fuel injectors to the 4 cyls not firing and found that only those injectors were also not working. So engine is stuck in 4 cyl mode. What would cause this? I checked the grounds, fuses, vacuum leaks, shorted wiring, found nothing. Seems to be electrical. Any advice would be a great help
What makes this problem better or worse?
No changes after driving a few miles

Hello, it would seem to me that inputs are telling the engine's processor to keep those four cylinders inactive. I would say you've done all you can reasonably do. I am not fully certain what characteristics the engine's processor relies on to deactivate cylinders, but it's seeing them...and that's where you have to look. It does not appear to be base engine or anything you've already attempted. I'm sorry to say that it will take some testing and you may have to engage a local shop with technicians equipped with diagnostic equipment that can dive into the different components and their operations. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
