When im driving i will lose rpms to below 500 and sometimes to zero

When im driving i will lose rpms to below 500 and somtimes to zero also does this sometimes when im nreaking or slowing down and even has happened at complete stops when this happens the whole truck shakes badly and the rear end feels like its slipping when i go around corners at low speeds and the vehicle will still move fprward but the speed is reduced and has a hard time going

What makes this problem better or worse?
