It is most likely that the radio in your 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe will need to be sent out for repair. The problem has been reported by RepairPal - http://repairpal.com/chevrolet-tahoe-2001/problems
I am hacing the exact same issue and have owned mine sonce it was brand new...2001 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 5.3 V8 Factory Stereo/CD Player by Delco Electronics. It has the Theftlock logo on the radio above the clock display but I have never done anything woth that as far as code etc. But ot is doing exactly ad you have stated. I have GM experience as well as many contacts in that field. I was pretty much told to get a new radio. My issue is this: from what I have read it is an internal issue with the Delco Electronics Radio/CD player unit. With that said I wonder if contacting them dirctlt would be better and there was no damage on my part to cause it. But sometimes I can hold the Seek utton down and get it to play songs 2 and on but if I shut the Tahoe off there is no guarentee it will do it next time. I know cd players are a thing of the past but my Tahoe os in great shape and has 178k on it. No major repairs except regular maintenance. I change my oil every 3000 miles never one mile over and I have trusted techs that make sure my MPVI is completed thoroughly so I can be up to date on anything I need to watch. But the thought of removing stock and putting in aftermarket is not my style. I have a fear of once you start messing and replacing then it all falls apart. Is there any new info on thos or anyone have any luck without having to replace or luck with Delco Electronics?
Thanks for the reply. I have a question...prior to trying to play the cd...we had the security retrieved at a Chevrolet dealer..we haven't reset it yet...could that be part of the problem ??
In most cases the security issue would have nothing to do with the CD player fault. If the security fault is active the radio will not play either.
