What is your question?
2001 Tahoe will not accelerate after getting wet. I can rev engine in Neutral, but not in DRIVE. When it dries out it runs great. Today I went to the gym and while inside the skies opened up. I went to leave and started going, then acceleration stopped. Usually after a carwash it will take about 20 minutes to dry out and drive normally again. But not today. I maxed out at 5mph to get to a different parking lot, where it now sits. The vehicle purrs like a kitten on normal days. There are NO strange noises or smells. Key Points: -Runs perfect 99% of the time. -After getting wet from carwash or rain, DOES NOT accelerate in Drive. 5 MPH tops. -DOES accelerate and move quickly in Reverse. -DOES Rev high RPMs in Neutral. -After drying out, runs fine again.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Worse: Getting wet from carwash or HEAVY rain
How long has your 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe had this problem?
8 months with carwash, Today with rain.

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! It sounds like you've got a water intrusion issue somewhere into some of your Tahoe's electrical system. Given the length of time that this has been happening, I'd be concerned that the moisture could be creating corrosion in the affected connections, which could disrupt the normal operation of the vehicle regardless of the weather. I'd suggest having your vehicle evaluated and diagnosed, be sure to provide as much detail as possible to aid in the technician's diagnosis. They can perform a water test to simulate the rain (or take it through a car wash) if necessary to pinpoint the origin of the intrusion and make recommendations on how to remedy the cause and subsequent symptoms.
