Dash lights come on but it won't turn over or anything

A vehicle could have enough reference power and voltage to light the dashboard lights, but not to do anything that requires more power. This could be due to a battery that is low in charge or unable to sustain a load. Have the battery checked first for state of charge or the ability to sustain a load.
