I had a knock sensor put on my 2016 chevy sonic but the engine light is still on and the engine is knocking still!

Hello, a knock sensor does not prevent knocking. Knocking can very well be a sign of internal engine damage that is not resolvable without major repairs. I would suggest someone evaluate the vehicle from a repair shop near you. If there is a diagnostic trouble code for a knock sensor -- testing will be needed to know what must be done to repair it.
