What is your question?
When I went to change the oil filter it normally comes out with the cap when removed. It is stuck on the rod that goes into the cartridge style filter. I can unscrew it from the housing but then the tube/rod is still stuck inside the cartridge and I still can't get it free. I'm trying not to break anything but I'm getting frustrated because no one knows what to do to remove this filter. It's a 2 minute job. Pop the cap and the filter is attached to the cap. WTF not this one?
How long has your 2013 Chevrolet Sonic had this problem?

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. There is no "manual" of trick to share; I would slowly work to carefully release the filter. That's the only guidance to offer other than having a professional shop near you intervene. Ensure use of a proper high quality (suggest GM) filter going forward to reduce any possible issues. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
