There was a clicking sound and we were told it was from the spark plugs being loose. If they can’t fix it they said we would need new heads.

How long has your 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD had this problem?

No reason existing heads can’t be repaired.

Furthermore this question needs to be addressed to whomever is going to do the actual work - any other estimates are irrelevant.

Agree with Pushrod. Even if the spark plug threads are in question, a good machine shop can make needed repairs to your existing heads. You need better first hand advice from better techs. Check here: www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
