Truck won't start.all gauges light up, but turn key and you get a click but nothing else. Happened a couple days ago,but it started after a few minutes. All good til now. Any ideas where to start?

check battery connections,grounds,all clean,no corrosion,tight.if battery terminals clean and the voltage is good check connections to starter.if all that is good,try to tap starter,see if it will start.if it does,the starter is most likely bad.
Tried tapping starter, nothing. All wires to starter seem good. Should I just take the starter off and have it tested?
yes,i would.also check battery voltage,should be 12.6 volts.which engine?6.0L,8.1L,6.6L diesel?
