Removed steering gear box and reseal both shafts only and now it has about a quarter turn of play and hard to steer. What did I do wrong. Thanks.

Improper re-assembly - reference marks BEFORE disassembly are required to maintain correct adjustments. The input shaft jam nut and the sector adjustment nut should to be marked prior to disassembly.
