I bought truck used and don't know much about if it worked before the door was replaced or not
What makes this problem better or worse?
No changes
How long has your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 had this problem?
Since I got the truck two months ago

IF the door was replaced - let's say non professionally - the wiring may not be connected correctly - or not connected at all.
The most likely cause is that if the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado is equipped with a door module that it is not programmed to the the truck. If this is the case the programming is done with a pass thru programming tool and GM programming SPS software. Otherwise you could change the module from the old door over and it should work.
Does the *passenger side* window and locks work ok? Got battery power going to drivers window switch / door lock switch?
