that don't mean the OIL LEVEL is LOW!as you stated,OIL( PRESSURE) LOW!!! get oil pressure switch checked,and/or replace it.could be something blocking the oil pick up,get it checked.
I have an 09' Silverado and at least 5-6 times now ive had the oil pressure warning light and alarm come on but the gage never goes down to zero, and will fluctuate alil with the rpms. Every time oil level is good with around 2500 miles on the oil and it happens after i kicker down hard to pass or get on the freeway. Ive changed just the filter and the oil pressure went back to normal after starting and shutting off the motor a cple times. But i usually change both the oil and filter. I just watch my excelleration when i know i have an oil change coming up.
This problem is common on the 03-06 GM trucks and will most always come down to either a bad oil pressure sensor on the back of the engine block or a bad oil pressure gauge in the gauge cluster which is also very common. Each gauge has a motor that controls it's needle movement and when the motor goes out the gauge will either stick, jump around or die all together.
