My truck will not start with the key but will start if it's hotwire.

I have to assume the starter is not CRANKING the engine over when turning the key and by “hot wired” you mean jumping battery voltage across the starter solenoid terminals.. In any event you’ll like need *hands-on* assistance from a professional.
