My 2000 Silverado 1500 has the battery warning light come on when starting
What is your question?
The light only comes on when I crank up the truck. I've had the alternator checked at the local parts store and according to them it's operating ok and the battery was replaced after it failed. What is going on and is it a serious problem and is there a way to reset the warning light if that's all that's wrong.

Since I posted this question I've had a couple of alternator people independently tell me it's common for the delay and a new regulator wouldn't necessarially fix the problem. What can negatively happen if the regulator isn't replaced and it is bad ?
