What (why) did the check engine light come on for? Misfires? P0300-P0306?
Always get the codes read. The answer may have been in there.
I know now but they are not back on ,can I still read them even if light is off?
You can try to. Go to an Autozone or a shop and see if they can pull the history but, with a battery style reset they may be gone.
ok thanks guys i'll try that and let ya'all know I got a scanner yesterday from auto zone and now it must be that some bad wiring going to computer,,,, because I got no signal when I plugged it in, and just to check, I tried it on 2 other vehicles and it worked fine so scanner is ok any other ideas??? checked wiring and fuses found 2 bad fuses replaced checked power to obc tried reader again and found that igniter coil 8 was bad, replaced it and everything back to normal thanks people really appreciated all help
I think because of bad igniter coils, but did not get it checked with a reader, my grandson had been using it, so before I put in the vehicle speed sensor I took off neg cable on battery to reset
Going along with 'csubak30s' reply , try and get codes read- there may be 'pending' codes stored if the problem is continuous as you say. IF one of the codes is P0700 , you will need to have the trans control module scanned , might need a shop for that. P0700 is a generic under the powertrain codes not specific , but it indicates a problem in trans which may or may not be a large part of the symptoms you describe. Keep us updated ....if we can help more. csubak30 will be the better one to watch on this one , I don't (actually I'm pretty sure) think I'm as current on GM as he is.
Why thank you for the vote of confidence. I like GM, Ford, Chevy, Hyundai, Kia and Honda. Not so hot on a lot of foreign cars. Especially VW, Mercedes and Audi. Getting better on Jags lately! LOL!!
Are you seeking therapy for the 'Jaguar' problem?
Lol!
