i have a 2000 checy silverado 2500 4x4, my air isnt working and i was told it might be that my a/c compresser is locked up, where do i find this on a diagram and how do i tell if it is locked up or not? Thanks

It won't go on if its low on the refrigerant, so I usually see if its charge by installing a gauge I bought in the ac kit ,I bought at auto parts store, charge it yourself ,but there's a relay if its charge a and doesn't go on ,also if the systems empty You have a leak somewhere with the hoses, etc. Some 1 here might have more info...
The clutch is the front of the compressor pulley, not where the belt runs but at the very front of that pulley! See if you can trun that part of the compressor by hand. IF so it aint locked up!
Thanks will try, i have looked all over for a diagram to see this, they either want you to download it, do you have a place where i can go that will show me this, i may not be looking in the right places, thanks again
No i dont but if you can find the compressor and put the palm of your hand on the very front of it and turn your wrist the pulley front flange should turn as your hand turns! That is all there is to it. No diagram is going to help you! Seek some hands-on help as that will have to be done anyway to fix it. BEFORE hot weather that is! Good luck with it..
Thanks again for all the info, have a great day
It feb , open the window , freeze your ass off now, just kidding, Listen that might be in different area then on top of motor , it might be on the side more...
it has refrigerant in it, so that is why i was told it maybe locked up. how do you find the clutch and see if it turn, but i didn't say that i found out i don't have a belt on it either, i need to see if i can move the clutch by hand,
When you say air isn't working, do you mean the fan inside the cab is not blowing any air out?? Or do you mean A/C is not blowing cold air out??
