front end makes a clanking noise at low speed in 2 hi.

There could be many causes to that noise. My first thought is possibly a u-joint on the front driveshaft. Even when it is in 2hi the driveshaft still spins. If the joint is bad, it will be noisy. There is a simple inspection procedure to check to see if that is the case.

Possible brake hardware or caliper mounting issue, lightly apply brake to see if noise stops. Also might be a cv joint or bearing but not as likely! Have a repair shop check it out is the best bet.
