the truck is running fine, but what do i need to do? where is the sensor located?

The issue can be with the sensor, wiring or the ECM. It will require a diagnosis to know what the problem is, and this will take special equipment and knowledge to perform these procedures.
If you want to replace it, the part is $11. Finding where to put it is a @#$#@$! Then just try to get at the bolt. Hint - go in over the top of the A-arm (through that flap) on the passenger side. Soak the bejeebers out of the bolt with Liquid Wrench. Use a 10mm deep well socket - SIX POINT ONLY is my recommendation - mine was pretty stuck. I had to use all 1/4" drive stuff as it is very tight in there. Then carefully PULL - do not pry the sensor out. I pried and now have the top half of the sensor in my hand - and am looking for solutions on line (which is how I found your question). Good luck. Let me know how it goes.
@ the bottom of the timing cover one 8mm bolt and thats it and it cost about $35 if you dont replace you will start getting some no starts. to cal. the sensor 2500rpm for 60secs
