129000 miles and burns 1qt oil between changes (3000 miles)is that normal or a sign of bad things down the road?

Most car manufacturers will say that up to 1 qt. per 1000 miles is acceptable. I personally disagree but that's just me. You really need to keep an eye on the oil level, please get in the habit of checking it more frequently than every oil change. Should be more like every 2nd or 3rd fuel fill up.
I have owned two Chevy prizms, the 2000 burns a quart every tank of gas and same for the 2001. The 2001 eventually lost compression in two cylinders at 157,000 miles, one to 90 and the other to 45. The 2000 sill running well after 200,000 miles but burns a lot of oil.
I have also heard this model has a problem every 800 miles and doe burn up oil.
Yeah, I own a 2001 that burns about 2 to 3 quarts between each oil change and this seems to be pretty normal. It sucks, but as long as you keep oil in it, it should run just fine.
