What is your question?
My air conditioner on my 2003 Monte Carlo SS keeps blowing the relief valve on the compressor. We have had it recharged 3 times. We had the valve replaced and it blew again. We replaced the 2 speed fan and it blew again. Each time we had it recharged it lasted about 3 days a I'm sitting at a stop light and it will let go again. What ese could ot possibly be? The car runs fine and there are no dash lights indicating a problem.

Here's the deal > Insufficient air flow into the engine bay drastically & quickly raises the ac compressor 'head pressure' to the point somethings got to give .. The weak link is the pressure relief valve .. Need to figure out WHY radiator cooling fan(s) aren't providing adequate cooling while vehicle is sitting still with ac on .. Also the ac high pressure switch may be faulty... Should the turn compressor off at higher than normal pressures. Driving down the highway - the engine bay cooling is provided by 'ram air' .. Come to a stop -.the fan(s) got to take over > Seem that's not happening here... At least one cooling fan should turn on 'very shortly' after ac is turned on! .. Engine 'temperature gauge' may not show a problem... Highly recommend finding qualified personnel to check it out: â–ªï¸https://repairpal.com/repair-shopsâ–ªï¸
Hey Pushrod, We replaced the fan, both speeds were working. Is there a sensor that tells the fans to come on at the right time, that might me working intermittingly. If so where is it? Could it be a problem with the computer?
Well now that's where the testing must commence .. Professional scan test is invaluable for problems like this.. Plus it is usually the least expensive route to take... 'High dollar' scanner can monitor applicable sensors and switches and provide functional test at the push of a button... Guessing at the actual culprit is moot!
Thanks for the advice Pushrod. Sounds like its time to take it to the shop.....
