Help! My husband had to drive my car for six months or so and when I was able to drive it again I noticed a popping type noise when I turned the car off. I noticed right away I needed to get my brakes done however when I asked him if he noticed it he said it had been like that for awhile. I'm very worried about the cost of the repairs. Does anyone know what all may need to be replaced? I'm trying to figure out the maximum repairs that may be needed as well as the cost. Thanks so much for any help!
What makes this problem better or worse?
I'm not sure since I don't know how long it has been a problem. My husband doesn't work on our cars, it's my job. I just know that brakes overheating means park the car until repairs are done.
How long has your 2018 Chevrolet Malibu had this problem?
More than a month

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. I am hearing a couple things - brakes overheating or needing repairs and a popping noise. If the noise happens when turning the vehicle off, it should be easy to replicate and have a technician near you evaluate - hands and ears on. This is my best recommendation for addressing a noise concern, because there's no way to tell from here where we all sit! Estimates can be provided once a diagnosis is completed. It's too hard to guess without some inspection. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
