What is your question?
Recently, I tried accelerating after disengaging the cruise control, only to have the check engine light come on immediately and a loss of power noticed. Once back up to speed, I tried setting the cruise control again only to have the car struggle to maintain set speed. Even on a slight incline, car would drop into a lower gear causing the RPMs to climb in order to try and maintain set speed. Pretty sure this has happened once before and it was the turbo sensor, or something along those lines. Last time I was told it was a bad cell in my car's battery - ????? What are your thoughts and have you had this happen to you?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Trying to accelerate, won't maintain set cruise speed
How long has your 2016 Chevrolet Malibu had this problem?
Three days

Hello, the issue that is occurring will be something that can be identified viewing a data stream of component performance while the vehicle is being operated, or a data recording being performed of various components. There is no guess of any particular component or sensor to be made here; many different possible causes exist and as a result testing is required. Even something as simple as an air filter restriction could cause the problem you are experiencing. With a check engine light illuminated, you will have data present that will assist in the diagnostic process when retrieved and analyzed by a skilled, experienced technician. The battery could always present a problem if it fails testing, because it would disrupt electrical system stability and can cause vehicle modules to malfunction - causing driving problems. Also, this is a guess - so have it tested to rule it out. Use this link to find some shops near you that can help with your concern: www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
