What is your question?
So I recently replaced the starter and alternator on this car, thinking that was issue with the battery. I had an auto tech test my fuses with multimeter and he diagnosed it as an issue with the ECM. I replaced that as well but now my car wont start and the battery is completely dead from being drained(which took 5 hours) . Not sure what could be the underlying issue.
What makes this problem better or worse?
The car started and ran with old ECM and new starter and alternator but wouldnt stop running even after being turned off. Now with the new ECM the car will not turn on.
How long has your 2014 Chevrolet Malibu had this problem?
More than a week

Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your 2014 Chevy Malibu. When an ECM is replaced it has to be programmed to your vehicle. The programming allows the engine to start and run and allows the computer to communicate properly with electronics and other computers in your vehicle. If it was not programmed this can lead to a battery drain in some cases as well as the no start concern. The programming usually has to be completed by a repair facility that has access to computer programming equipment. If this was not performed I recommend having this performed first to see if this resolves both concerns. If the battery drain re occurs then this can indicate that there is still an electronic creating the battery drain that needs to be located and repaired or replaced. Components like a light that may be stuck on, a relay or switch that is stuck, an internal computer or radio failure, or even wiring concerns among many others can cause a drain. In order to pinpoint the source of the drain a multimeter is usually used to measure and monitor the drain itself. This is usually something that is best to have performed by an experienced shop.
