Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Your sporadic driving habits are neither good, nor bad. They just bring up some things to the surface that can be challenging with limited vehicle use. The most significant and immediately affecting concern is that your vehicle's battery may not sustain enough of a charge for long enough. This can expose weakness in the battery and can result in the vehicle not cranking over to start when you need it, especially after sitting for a week or more. Two ways to optimize battery life with sporadic infrequent vehicle use: first, when you do run your vehicle, run it for a little while at a time -- at least 20 for 30 minutes of driving. This will help the charging system recharge the battery sufficiently. Second, if you are so inclined, you could invest in a "trickle charger" - a battery charger that will use very low amperage power to maintain the battery during periods of less use. This should be a very small 1 - 2 amp charger. If you do not drive much, your brake system could corrode and become noisy. Your engine oil and brake fluid will accumulate condensation which after time could become damaging. Make sure you change your oil at the very least annually, regardless of mileage put on the vehicle. Brake fluid should be changed every 2-3 years. Those are the most significant points. As always, keep in tune with how your vehicle runs and acts - if anything seems abnormal, reach out to a local shop near you! https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
