What is your question?
ABS light comes on and off randomly, today after a snowstorm my wheel is shaking and the whole car shakes. Concerned about possible wheel baring issue, something to do with the ABS light or just snow and ice stuck up in the rims and tires. Anyone have any advice? ABS and Service Traction light have been coming on then randomly going off for months now. I haven’t noticed anything else different but the lights. No issues breaking or anything except for when the lights come on I feel a flutter in my breaks and then nothing else. Same with when the lights go off- My breaks flutter then everything is normal. Today (after being stuck in a snow bank yesterday night into today) almost as soon as I got out of my driveway it started shaking. I drove to work but it shook the whole way, except when I was going uphill oddly enough. On the way home after work the shaking was not nearly as aggressive but still very much there. Any ideas? Is this just the snow and ice?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Your 2011 Chevy Malibu’s ABS light and shaking could definitely be connected, especially with the recent snowstorm. Snow and ice jammed in the wheels or rims often throw the balance off, causing vibrations. A quick cleanout with a hose (if temps allow) can rule that out. The ABS light coming on for months, though, suggests a deeper issue—likely a faulty wheel speed sensor or wiring. The flutter in the brakes when the light comes on is the ABS system getting confused. If the wheel bearing is bad, it could also trip the ABS light by affecting sensor readings, and you’d likely hear grinding or humming as well. But remember, the fluttering in the brakes happens when the ABS is activated. If you're driving in sketchy weather it may just be doing its job! I'd have a shop scan the ABS system codes to pinpoint the issue. And drive carefully—snow and a sketchy ABS system aren't a good mix!
