What is your question?
I have a 2010 chevy malibu ls. I am recently experiencing electrical issues. First there was a short which was cutting the engine to reduced power and we fixed that. Now my instrument cluster is going haywire on me. I had a guy check it with his expensive tester and he couldn't figure out what the problem is. It is intermittent, like every time I take it to the mechanic, it won't show the problem but as soon as I drive away some of the cluster lights come on and freeze there and the guages will zero out and then go back up. I need to know what I can check. My mechanic said it may be a communication problem between the bcm and the cluster. How can I check that? I don't have tons of money to pay someone to do the labor so I pretty much have to do it myself. Thank you
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing, sometimes it works and sometimes the gauges go crazy
How long has your 2010 Chevrolet Malibu had this problem?
about a week

The unfortunate part is that there is not much that the vehicle owner can do absent diagnostic tools, a shop manual, a wiring diagram and a voltmeter/ohmmeter. It will require testing, and you'll need the high end diagnostic tool to check network connections. Modern vehicles have more than power and ground for electrical - you have communication lines. No way to perform ongoing, persistent diagnostic testing without proper tooling.
