2010 malibu service traction light and service esc then car loses power

Hello @rickster60, I have the same car & I've had it for 6yrs now. My car had the exact same issue, except mine only died a couple times, but the cough you describe is probably the chugging mine did almost constantly. Whenever we ran a test it always threw out codes for the MAP sensor, so we cleaned it several times & eventually replaced it. The problem persisted. Once it finally almost killed me because it stalled on a very busy road in the intersection, we finally sent it to a shop owned by one of my dad's buddies. What wound up working was to replace the spark plugs. I don't know why it worked or why my car's computer couldn't figure out the actual problem, but it has run perfectly for around 3-4yrs now (save for other problems that were eventually recalls).
