How easy are repairs on a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu? And, is this vehicle reliable?

We are thinking of buying a used one. We can go with the 2.2 liter. Is the 3.5 liter more difficult? Will the 2.2 preform well?

Less power, less 'get up and go'. However, preventive maintenance, tune-ups and overall repairs are much more simple and far less costly. Gas mileage is quite good too on the 2.2liter. Overall future stress for the owner : the 2.2 liter is the way to go. You just have to say bye-bye to the extra 'varoom' down the highway! :)
