This problem is almost always worse when the car is warmed up (i.e. it's NOT a cold start problem). I suspect dirty spark plugs and/or fuel system.

I suspect it has the GM 3.1 engine. They had a problem with the intake gaskets leaking coolant internally. With the extra pressure on the cooling system when warm it might be leaking coolant inside making it hard to start. This is just 1 of several possiblities. Check the exhaust while the car is running. Does it have a sweet smell to it? Could be a cat is plugging up. Does there seem to be enough exhaust coming out the tailpipe?
