Turn signal does not work at all time, but hazards lights work

One day I went to turn my turn signal on and it was not working. I tapped my dashboard and it came back on. Now it is doing this more and more to where I am banging on the dashboard to get them to work or using my hazards to get them on. Is this something I can fix myself?

I would suspect you have an interminttent problem with your hazard switch. There is a "special policy" on your hazard switch from GM The factory warranty has been extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles (you should have been notified of this by mail but GM may not have your current address). The policy number is 04098A.
I would replace your turn signal flasher.
where is the signal flasher located?
On the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu the turn signal flasher is part of the hazard switch.
I had the same problem. I would shake the turn signal and sometimes it would work. Just replace it.

I have the same problem, occasionally the door bonging sound bongs for each click and makes driving very painful to the ears. I have attempted to fix this problem; I replaced the hazard switch, however, this did not solve the problem. I have been recommended to replace the multi-function switch, the switch that contains the two control arms on the sides of the steering wheel. I will try this next, I think the part is ~$200. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
