What is your question?
this is a follow up to question i asked several days ago. 1999 chevy lumina car overheated with no warning, no white sweet smelling smoke. Only gauge in red area while husband driving home and steam. nothing occured prior to this to indicate a problem. Now the mechanic that looked at car says it is the intake manifold and does not know if gasket needs to be replaced. They dont do repair we need to have towed agina to another shop. This is beyond what we can afford does this sound logical based on the information? Please advise.

Unfortunately this is a common problem do to a manufacture defect. What I mean is that GM used a bad design in the intake gasket. GM used a intake gasket that that had plastic in it. What would happen is the plastic would break down due to heat and the rubber that actually sealed the intake manifold would loose it's support to seal. Who ever does the repair make sure the shop uses a FELPRO gasket. The FELPRO gasket part number has to have a T at the end of the number. The T stands for trouble solver. Meaning that instead of plastic FELPRO redesigned the gasket with steel instead of plastic. The repair is not inexpensive unfortunately. Hopefully you haven't done any damage to the engine. If you would have had the engine serviced by a qualified tech he would have noticed the coolant reservoir or the radiator was low on coolant. Only a tech with experience would know about this problem. I'm sorry for the bad news. I hope the new year goes better. If you need more info to get the FELPRO part number and a reasonable cost of the repair. Contact me at jmgrhm30@gmail.com.
Thank you for the response. I was quoted approx $600.00 not including tax of course and that is if the actual gasket does not need repair. I would need to have car towed to another repair shop as this one does not do these repairs(Tires plus in Kingston NY). I unfortunently cannot afford this at this time, we have another car A Saturn L 2000 that is believe it or n ot haivong the same issue. I think we will have dealer look at Saturn because I think it is covered under warrenty.
When you state "actual gasket" what do you mean?
