4 wheel high floor shifter light illuminates very dim

98 Chevy K1500 5.7 Automatic Transmission Manual four wheel drive floor shift. When truck is put into 4 wheel drive high the light bulb in the floor shifter does come on but very dim. I cleaned the socket, installed a new bulb and checked the voltage but the light still remains very dim. 4 wheel drive works fine it’s the light bulb in the floor shifter itself that’s driving me crazy.
