Can labels on shocks tell how old they are? 2017 Chevy Impala

Had rear shocks replaced recently; went to another shop for oil change and it was recommended that I get the shocks replaced. Was shown that the shocks were the originals for the car because of the labels on them. It did ride better after the replacement.
