Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Impala. Jerking at takeoff can be frustrating, especially when it's intermittent, as you're describing. With your Impala, the issue could be related to the electronic throttle control system since it uses an electronic gas pedal. Sometimes, a dirty or faulty throttle body, a malfunctioning throttle position sensor (TPS), or an accelerator pedal position sensor issue can cause this kind of jerking. Another possibility is a transmission issue, where the transmission isn't engaging smoothly from a stop. Since the problem improves when you let off the gas and reapply, it suggests more of an issue with the throttle system than something mechanical in the transmission. It might be worth having the throttle body and related sensors checked and cleaned.
