Hi, I'm Bogi, one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Sorry to hear that you are having car troubles. On your 2012 Chevy Impala the camshaft position sensor for the exhaust cam for bank 2 is located on the rear bank of the engine, which on the 3.6L V6 is the bank closest to the firewall. It sits near the rear of the cylinder head and can be a bit tricky to access due to its location toward the back of the engine bay. That said, I do want to note that exhaust fumes entering the cabin while driving is a serious safety concern that should be addressed immediately, as carbon monoxide exposure can be extremely dangerous. This could indicate an exhaust leak somewhere in the system and I’d strongly recommend having a qualified shop inspect the vehicle as soon as possible, ideally before driving it further.
