What is your question?
The Chevy dealership can't help me. The mechanic told me that I need a new fuse box because the wiper control relays are not accessible and berried inside fuse box module. My car's fuse box is no longer available from GM. My only recourse is to open up the fuse box module and fix it myself. I have the fuse box removed from the vehicle and on my desk with all the surface relays and fuses removed. I am in need of someone who can answer a simple question before I start butchering the fuse box case to open it. Does the plastic guides for the wiring connector bolts that are positioned in the center of the module hold it together or is there some other locking mechanism hidden at the sides of the module that keep the unit from separating?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Diagnosed problem by dealership mechanic. Windshield wippers not working.

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Tackling that fuse box on your Impala sounds like quite the project! As for your question about the plastic guides for the wiring connector bolts, these usually help secure the wiring connectors but aren’t typically the main thing holding the fuse box case together. Most of the time, the fuse box case is held together by hidden clips or small screws along the edges. Here's a tip: Gently pry along the seams with a flathead screwdriver or a plastic trim tool. Be careful and go slow, checking for hidden clips as you go. The last thing you want is to break a clip and have the whole thing snap back together like a clam. Once you get it open, you’ll have access to those buried relays. If you’re not feeling confident or things get tricky, you might consider reaching out to an automotive electrician. They often have the tools and expertise to tackle such detailed work. If you need more advice, have other questions, or need to find a certified repair shop in your area, just let me know!
