When filling gas tank gas comes back out of filling neck and purge solenoid

Most likely the carbon canister is plugged up and won't allow the air to be displaced in the fuel tank to allow for the volume of fuel. You can try removing the vent solenoid to see if that is stuck closed, but that is some what rare. The vent solenoid is the electrical device near the filler neck. The purge solenoid is up by the intake manifold. I often see carbon canisters get plugged up when people 'top of' their fuel tanks, meaning after the filler nozzle clicks off the first time when they are filling their tanks at the gas station, they keep adding gas, which will be forced down in to the canister and ruin it. This may or may not apply to your self, but I always mentions it because most poeple are unaware that this can happen.,
