the fan that heats up my car won't shut off at all. i turned the car off and it still runs, and i tuned the knob off and it still runs. what causes this and how do i fix it?

It sounds like you may have a shorted blower motor resistor assembly located near the blower motor under the passenger side of the dash. If that is indeed the case the resistor assembly will need to be replaced. The location of the resistor assembly makes it kind of difficult to replace. I would recommend proper diagnoses of the blower motor on your 2001 Chevrolet Impala before replacing and parts.
Mine stays on also, but it only stays on for a few minutes after the car is off, to continue cooling the engine. You probably have an issue with the switch that turns it on and off.
